Asheboro Municipal Golf Course

Asheboro Municipal Golf Course is a nine-hole public course owned and run by the City of Asheboro's Cultural & Recreation Services, a few minutes from downtown Asheboro and the North Carolina Zoo. It covers 56 acres, and the city credits the design to Donald Ross in 1935. From the Blue tees the nine measures 3,054 yards to a par of 35, with six par 4s, two par 3s and one par 5; golfers go around twice for 18. The site is a long, gradual slope with hummocks, and the holes run uphill, downhill and across it, most of them between rows of pines. Hazards are few: a modest number of bunkers, most beside the greens, a ditch in front of the 3rd green and a pond beside the 8th. The greens are small, the smallest about 15 yards across, and several slope from back to front. Commercial parking lots lie just beyond the road along the 7th. The clubhouse and pro shop sit beside the 9th green, with a practice green and a short practice area. Since July 2026 the city charges $18 to walk and $25 to ride nine holes, and it no longer sells memberships. Austin Stout, a PGA Associate, gives lessons. The course hosts the Men's Asheboro City-Amateur and a Junior Amateur, and the Carolinas Golf Association has held its state junior boys' championships here.
