Cedar Rapids Country Club

Set in the oak-forested Indian Creek valley, Cedar Rapids Country Club presents Iowa’s only Donald Ross routing—expanded to 18 holes in 1915—on a rolling property that mixes upland holes with creek-bottom strategy. From the back markers the course now stretches to 7,328 yards, par 72 (75.7/138), with multiple forward sets (down to ~4,840 yards) keeping the walk approachable for a wide range of players. Rather than relying on arrays of ponds, the test hinges on elevation change, Indian Creek crossings and select water hazards—most notably the lake left at No. 8, the pond influencing No. 13, and creek interactions through the valley stretch—that frame angles into restored, subtly contoured bent-grass greens. Tees, fairways, and putting surfaces are bent grass, and the club’s restoration era cleared sightlines and recaptured green edges so the landforms carry the strategic load. Practice amenities include a driving range, short-game area, and putting green, with professional instruction available. Off the course, the club operates as a private, member-owned facility with full family amenities—dining, aquatics, fitness, and tennis—on a historic campus minutes from downtown. (Guest access is at the club’s discretion, typically via member invitation or approved reciprocal arrangements.)
