Country Club of Columbus

The Country Club of Columbus is a private club at 2610 Cherokee Avenue in Midtown Columbus, Georgia, northeast of downtown. Golf is for members and their guests, and members play without tee times. Besides the golf shop, practice facilities and instruction, the club has dining, a pool and pavilion, a fitness center, and tennis and pickleball courts. The clubhouse and its patio look over the 18th green. The course is par 71 and, by the club's count, 6,515 yards from the back markers, short by championship standards. It runs through tree-lined corridors with tall pines, over hilly ground. The 1st and 10th both tee off beside putting greens, the 10th crosses two ravines, and ponds sit in front of and beside the shallow green at the 315-yard 11th from the Black tees. The greens are TifEagle Bermuda, which the club describes as small and undulating, and many are ringed by shaved collection areas recovered in the 2002 restoration. The bunkers were rebuilt with new liners in 2022. The club has staged the Southeastern Amateur, one of the country's oldest amateur events, since 1922, and the Haskins Foundation, which presents the Haskins Award and the ANNIKA Award to the top men's and women's college golfers, is based here. State championships still come to the club: the Georgia Women's Amateur in 2024 and the Georgia Senior Match Play in 2025.
