Gulf Stream Golf Club

Gulf Stream Golf Club occupies a rare strip of ground between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway in the small town of Gulf Stream, immediately north of Delray Beach, Florida. The Addison Mizner–designed clubhouse sits just west of the oceanfront dunes, anchoring a compact, wind-exposed property whose fairways run toward and away from a central coastal ridge and descend to lower ground along the Intracoastal. Today the club is resolutely private; its website offers only basic contact information and a brief history, and does not publish a public scorecard or detailed hole descriptions. Recent work by Pete Dye (front nine completed in 2013, back nine in 2014) left the course playing approximately 7,100 yards from the back tees, with five sets of tees and Celebration bermudagrass in place of earlier paspalum on fairways and tees. Dye’s project also reworked drainage, rebuilt bunkers, and recontoured many greens with the explicit brief—at the members’ request—to make the course more playable in Gulf Stream’s persistent ocean breeze. A line of seagrapes flanking the eighteenth was removed to reopen ocean views from the closing hole and the ocean-side practice green. Visitors arriving today encounter a classic, low-profile, walking-scale layout in a quiet residential setting, with the Atlantic visibly and audibly present at key moments of the round.
