Holston Hills Country Club

Set on open, rolling ground along the Holston River on the east side of Knoxville, Holston Hills Country Club is a private, member club whose centerpiece is an 18-hole Donald Ross course from 1927. The Tudor-style clubhouse overlooks much of the property, with broad vistas from the terrace and a short walk to the first tee. Practice facilities include a full driving range and multiple short-game areas; in 2012 the club rebuilt and expanded its practice grounds, and since June 2024 it has completed a course-wide bunker renovation directed by architect Kris Spence that improved drainage and playability while working from historical drawings and aerials. Holston Hills today plays a muscular but walkable par-72, with width off the tee giving way to exacting green sites that dictate angles and pace of play. The club is an annual Korn Ferry Tour stop—the Visit Knoxville Open—and also hosts regional amateur events, so day-to-day members’ golf coexists with tournament setup requirements. Ownership by McConnell Golf since 2016 has kept the course firmly in the “golf-first” camp while investing in preservation-minded upgrades.
