Lancaster Golf Club

Lancaster is an 18-hole, par-72 public/semi-public course on the outskirts of the city, with a clubhouse, driving range, putting green, and a dedicated MiniVerde chipping area and practice bunker. The club promotes a split character: a “somewhat-open” front nine and a tighter, tree-lined back nine. The present scorecard lists 6,538 yards from the longest tees. Public play is welcomed with daily-fee rates and optional memberships; the course sits within the group of Leroy Springs facilities alongside Fort Mill, Springfield, and Chester. Greens are MiniVerde ultradwarf bermuda, a conversion completed in 2012, and the practice grounds are integrated adjacent to the first tee and range. Multiple regional amateur events—most notably the Carolinas Golf Association’s South Carolina Junior Match Play—have been staged here. For a visitor today, the course conveys a hybrid: Ross-credited corridors on the front nine over rolling inland Piedmont ground, paired with Russell Breeden’s later, more enclosed back nine. The club’s own materials emphasize that contrast, which remains the defining feature of a round at Lancaster.
