Lu Lu Country Club

Lu Lu Country Club sits in the North Hills/Glenside section of Montgomery County, just north of Philadelphia. The present-day course occupies a compact, rock-strewn property with dramatic interior ground movement; two of the most talked-about features are a tiny “volcano” par three perched above a quarry bowl and a deep punchbowl green, both of which frame the club’s identity as a place of lively, old-style targets rather than broad, modern corridors. The club operates as a private membership facility, but in recent years it has periodically welcomed limited outside play and hosted local and collegiate competitions. Following a devastating 2015 clubhouse fire, Lu Lu rebuilt and now operates from a new clubhouse completed in the 2020–2021 period. Practice amenities include a range and putting green, and the golf course today plays to a par of 71 from the back tees. From a visitor’s perspective, the day’s round is defined by short-to-medium two-shotters, bold green contours and surrounds, and constant elevation change within a small footprint—an experience that still reads unmistakably as the club’s longstanding “Ross at Lu Lu” character.
