Manchester Country Club

Manchester Country Club (Bedford, New Hampshire) is a private, member-owned club whose 18-hole course occupies roughly 116 acres along the Merrimack River corridor just south of downtown Manchester. The layout plays today as a par-71 with multiple teeing options topping out a little over 6,500 yards, and it is supported by a full practice range and short-game spaces. Club facilities include a substantially rebuilt clubhouse completed in 2013 with new dining and event venues, a separate “golf house” for the professional shop and cart storage, and indoor training/simulator space; in 2015 the club added a 3,250-sq-ft performance studio on the clubhouse’s upper level. Troon has provided management support since 2008 while governance remains member-elected. The course presents tree-lined corridors, water influencing play on a number of holes, and compact green-to-tee connections—attributes that give the round a cohesive, walking-friendly rhythm. Recent work under architect Ron Forse has focused on recapturing early features attributed to Donald Ross, including cross-bunkers and fescue mounds, while preserving the routing and the course’s characteristic, subtly-contoured putting surfaces. New for 2026 is a major practice facility upgrade including expanded driving range (18 bays), new mats, target greens, and a new 3,000 sq feet short game area with chipping green. The club remains an active tournament host, including the New Hampshire Open’s return in 2017 and again in 2021, and the New England PGA Section Championship in 2019.
