Maplewood Golf Club

Set at 2,000 feet in the White Mountains, The Maplewood Golf Club (Bethlehem, New Hampshire) is a semi-private, Ross-era resort course operating today with public access. The golf facilities are anchored by the 1889 Maplewood Casino building—restored in 1988—which houses the pro shop, grill, and function rooms. Players will find a chipping and putting green (there is no driving range), a stocked shop, and a casual restaurant and deck that look toward the course. The 18-hole layout plays 6,167 yards from the back tees (par 72). Its present identity mixes intact early-20th-century corridors on many holes with later alterations, the most conspicuous being a par-6 16th stretching more than 650 yards. Bent-grass tees, fairways, and greens remain a point of pride, and the combination of mountain air, rolling ground, and compact resort routing keeps the walk engaging. The club markets itself as “open to the public” within a semi-private framework, with memberships available for regular play and events. For visitors, Maplewood is one of two Donald Ross courses within the town limits (along with Bethlehem Country Club), and it occasionally participates in regional “stay-and-play” itineraries that tour the White Mountains’ historic resort courses.
