Oak Park Country Club

Oak Park Country Club sits along Thatcher Avenue in River Grove, just west of Chicago, on a compact, gently rolling property defined by a narrow watercourse that members long ago nicknamed “the course of the winding stream.” The club operates as a private, full-service facility with golf at its core and a clubhouse complemented by dining, a pool, and a modern racquet complex; in winter the grounds host skeet and trap, a quirky amenity that is part of the club’s lore. Practice today includes range and short-game areas supporting regular tournament play, most prominently the long-running Radix Cup matches between the Illinois PGA and CDGA amateurs. The course itself plays as a Midwestern parkland test: a par-72 with early-round decisions shaped by repeated encounters with the stream, followed by drier, more bunkered ground where positioning into subtly pitched, expanded greens matters more than sheer length. Membership is invitation-only; day-to-day access is for members and their guests.
