Raleigh Country Club

Raleigh Country Club sits three miles east of downtown Raleigh on rolling Piedmont ground that falls and rises toward a pair of long ridges. It is a private club with a full-service clubhouse and a 15-acre practice complex that includes a large driving range with six target greens, three chipping greens, and a 17,000-square-foot putting green; a smaller putting green beside the first tee lets players sample speeds before heading out. The course today is presented in firm, fast condition with expanded green surfaces, rebuilt bunkers, and widened corridors after the club’s 2020 renovation by architect Kyle Franz; a follow-on 2022 bunker project improved the practice areas. Tournament set-ups for the Korn Ferry Tour’s UNC Health Championship typically play par 70 at ~7,257 yards, while member play uses a par-71 card and a range of tees; the club notes back tees pushing the course “nearly 7,400 yards” when desired. Access is by membership, and the course now serves as a regular professional stop while maintaining a legacy as Donald Ross’s final design, opened in 1948.
