Ravisloe Country Club

Ravisloe Country Club lies on roughly 120–160 acres in Homewood, about 25 miles south of downtown Chicago. The property is framed by tree-lined neighborhood streets and a Spanish Mission–style clubhouse completed for the club’s early-twentieth-century campus. Since 2009 Ravisloe has operated as a public daily-fee course; tee times, facility information, and hole imagery are available through the club’s website. The course today offers a compact practice putting area, a short-game space, and full dining and event operations within the historic clubhouse. The current card plays par 70 at ~6,340 yards from the back tees, with alternative setups sometimes presented as par 71 depending on how the twelfth is played.  The front nine moves over relatively gentle ground and, unusually, offers back-to-back par fives (2–3) and back-to-back par threes (6–7), the latter including a one-shotter played largely over water. Since a 2001–02 restoration, the course’s defenses rely on revived sand hazards and tilted, compact greens more than on water. In 2021 the property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its historic architecture and golf landscape. In June 2022 Ravisloe was accredited as an arboretum by the Morton Register of Arboreta, reported at the time as the first golf course to earn that accreditation; the property holds a collection of more than 3,000 trees.
