Riverside Country Club

Riverside Country Club occupies rolling ground above the Kennebecasis River in Rothesay, just east of Saint John, New Brunswick. The private, member club centers on an 18-hole course whose present layout is the product of a substantial Donald Ross redesign and expansion in the early 1930s, with ongoing restoration-led stewardship in the 21st century. Today the course plays as a walkable parkland test with several bold elevation changes and a rare par-3 home hole, supported by a modernized clubhouse, dining and event spaces, a short-game/practice area, and a turf program that has accompanied phased restoration. Yardage from the back tees is in the mid-6,000s (approx. 6,590 yards) at par 72, though prevailing river breezes and hillside green sites introduce far more defense than the card suggests. The club periodically hosts national events—most recently the 111th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship—while day-to-day play retains a member-forward cadence. Visitors encounter classic green pads, purposeful bunkering, and corridors that open to river views, with recent work focusing on recapturing Ross’s widths, green perimeters, and bunker forms without disturbing the routing rhythm that has defined Riverside for nearly a century.
