Waynesville Inn, Golf Resort & Spa
Set in a sheltered valley just south of downtown Waynesville, the Waynesville Inn & Golf Club (formerly Waynesville Country Club) today presents an 18-hole, par-71 resort course that blends a restored nine from Donald Ross’s 1926 layout with twelve newly created holes by Bobby Weed Golf Design. Guests stay on site at the historic inn (now in Hilton’s Tapestry Collection) and find a full practice range, a Himalayas-style putting course, and a short course alongside the main 18, all framed by long mountain views and sandy, piney ground evocative of the property’s earlier presentation. The club operates as a hotel-anchored private resort: play is available to members and to overnight guests, with stay-and-play packages marketed through the inn. The current routing begins with the Ross valley nine—low-lying land crossed by small streams—before climbing to newly built higher ground for broader vistas and more elevation change, then returning to the valley floor to finish. Maintenance practices emphasize firm, running surfaces with exposed native sand and wiregrass in out-of-play areas, a visual and strategic cue that the recent redesign used to set off Ross’s surviving corridors and green sites.
