Woodberry Forest Golf Course

Set on the grounds of Woodberry Forest School in Madison County’s Piedmont, the Woodberry Forest Golf Course is a nine-hole, member-based facility used by the school community and a small golf club affiliated with the school. The course plays today at roughly 2,971 yards (par 35) from its principal tees and sits below the hilltop academic core, with long views toward the Blue Ridge on clear days. Access operates on a private basis—applications are handled through the school’s “Golf Club & Payments” page—and outside play is limited to members and their guests. Practice is supported by the Graves Golf Practice Area, a dedicated complex with a driving range, two practice greens, and bunkers built in 1991 on adjacent school land. The course routing functions as the home venue for the Tigers’ golf teams and also hosts occasional community or heritage-golf gatherings. For visitors, the experience is that of a compact Ross-era campus course: short walks between greens and tees, a mix of short two-shotters and two par-5 holes, and greens that ask for precise approaches rather than brute length. The setting is scholastic rather than resort-like, so clubhouse and ancillary amenities are modest; the emphasis is on walkable golf woven into daily campus life and team training.
