Apawamis Club

Founded in 1899 and refined by Donald Ross and, most recently, Gil Hanse, The Apawamis Club in Rye, New York, offers a classic, walkable 18-hole layout that stretches just over 6,700 yards from the tips and plays to a par 72. Tight, tree-lined corridors, natural rock outcroppings and strategically placed bunkers demand accuracy, while subtly contoured, Ross-inspired greens reward a deft short game. Players rave about the downhill, Redan-style par-3 8th and the drive-and-pitch 16th that tumbles toward Long Island Sound. Complementing the course is a comprehensive practice complex featuring a full-length range, dedicated short-game area and year-round indoor simulators. A stately Shingle-style clubhouse anchors the property, providing locker rooms, multiple dining venues and sweeping veranda views. Additional amenities include a pool, paddle and tennis courts, fitness center and renowned junior programs. Private and predominantly walking with a seasoned caddie program, Apawamis delivers a traditional club experience only 35 minutes from Manhattan, blending storied history with first-class conditioning and service.
