Bacon Park Golf Course

Bacon Park Golf Course is the City of Savannah's only municipal golf course, on Shorty Cooper Drive in the southeast of the city. The city owns it, and O.C. Welch Golf Properties has managed it since 2014 under a contract the city extended in early 2026, the course's hundredth year. It is open to everyone, with walking and cart rates for 18 or nine holes and reduced rates for seniors, military and juniors; 18 holes walking cost $28 in October 2026. The main course is Donald Ross's eighteen, restored by Richard Mandell and reopened in October 2015. It plays to a par of 71 and 6,409 yards from the Ross tees, with Blue, White and Red tees down to 4,803 yards. The ground is low-lying. Ponds and drainage ditches cross the property, and the city maintains eleven cart bridges across the course. The greens sit only slightly above grade, and on the closing holes grass mounds stand where most courses would have sand. The club names every hole, from Getaway at the 1st to Home at the 18th. The third nine beside it, which Mandell's firm reworked as the Legends Nine for beginners, is no longer in play and has grown over. A lighted driving range and two large practice greens complete the facility, and the course hosts the Savannah City Amateur each year.
