The 3rd is the shortest of the front-nine par 3s. The shot crosses rough ground, with a cart path running across the line about 100 to 115 yards out. Four bunkers wrap the left side of the green from front to back, between about 135 and 165 yards from the tee, and a fifth sits at the front right. Woods rise beyond the cart path on the right. The green is about 26 yards deep and 24 wide. Ross's blueprint called for a raised, levelled green with falloffs on three sides and a tee built high enough to see all of it.
