Biltmore Forest Country Club

Biltmore Forest Country Club is a private, member-owned club in the Town of Biltmore Forest, just south of Asheville and about a mile southeast of the Biltmore Estate. Membership is by invitation only, and the golf course is open to members and their guests. The 18-hole course, opened in 1922 to a Donald Ross design, plays to par 70 and 6,638 yards from the Gold tees. It is hilly, tree-lined and compact, with most tees a short walk from the previous green. There is only one par 5, the 7th, and fourteen par 4s, so most of the round is played into greens. Those greens are A-1 bentgrass, relatively small, well bunkered and contoured; members describe putting as the main test. Tees and fairways are zoysia. A creek runs beside the opening holes, and the bunkering on the 10th and 12th, laid out in rows beside the greens, is, in Top100GolfCourses' words, perhaps the most photographed on the course. Brian Silva restored the course in the 1990s and renovated it again in 2014-15, reintroducing bunkers from Ross's plans and early photographs. The club lists Andrew Green as its architect of record and cites an 11th-place Golf Digest ranking in North Carolina. The clubhouse, by Baltimore architect Edward L. Palmer, has a main dining room, grill room, bars and 24 bedrooms. An athletic complex opened in 2023 with a 25-yard pool and a pool grill, alongside a fitness center and four Har-Tru courts and a hard court.
