Catawba Country Club

Catawba Country Club is a member-owned private Donald Ross course dedicated on Thanksgiving Day 1946 and now plays 6,635 yards, par 72 from the back tees. Ross’s corridors emphasize placement over brute length, with hazards deployed where the land accepts them: the 2nd opens over a pond with wetlands down the right and a creek tight to the green, while the 5th bends left toward a lay-up creek about 80 yards short—two cues that make thoughtful angles matter more than raw carry. In 2024 the club converted all putting surfaces to Mach 1 ultradwarf bermudagrass, delivering firm, fast, and consistent greens within the restored Ross pad outlines. Multiple tee sets keep the course accessible without diluting its shot values. Practice amenities include a driving range, practice green, large putting green, and an indoor/outdoor fitting & training facility. On the clubhouse side, the club lists a golf shop, locker rooms, and casual dining at Ernie’s Grill overlooking the course.
