Country Club of Mobile

Set within the Spring Hill neighborhood of Mobile, Alabama, the Country Club of Mobile (CCM) today presents 27 holes of member-only golf: an 18-hole championship course attributed to Donald Ross and a separate nine-hole par-3 “North Nine.” The championship course plays as a par 71 with a back-tee yardage listed around 6,842 yards, and features a traditional, walkable routing over rolling, oak-lined ground with significant (for the Gulf Coast) elevation change. Practice amenities include a full driving range, short-game areas and a teaching facility integrated with the North Nine. Club life centers on a large clubhouse complex with multiple dining spaces and locker rooms, plus extensive racquets and aquatics facilities. A multi-phase renovation by Jerry Pate Design (2017–2018) rebuilt greens to USGA specifications, renewed bunkers and re-grassed playing surfaces while aiming to preserve Ross-era strategies. The club’s long-running Labor Day Invitational anchors a busy competitive calendar. Overall, the present-day experience is classic parkland golf in a private setting, with modern infrastructure layered onto a historically significant Ross plan.
