Country Club of New Bedford

Country Club of New Bedford (Dartmouth, Massachusetts) occupies gently rolling, wooded ground a few miles inland from Buzzards Bay. Today’s course is a private, par-70 Willie Park Jr. design that plays 6,456 yards from the back tees, with published USGA ratings of 71.7/137 (Black), 70.1/134 (Blue), 67.1/128 (Grey) and 63.6/119 (Green). The club emphasizes walking, a lively competitive calendar, and long-running member-guest traditions. Practice offerings include on-course warm-up areas and seasonal indoor simulators; the golf “Academy” and shop are housed within the main campus. The routing’s character is compact and rhythmic: a single par five on the outward nine, then a demanding inward side anchored by two short-but-perilous Park par-3s at 15 and 16 and a narrow, exacting finish. The club is member-only; outside play is generally limited to invited events such as the long-standing August Four-Ball. Recent communications indicate a course-renovation program commenced in late 2024/2025, with construction led by NMP Golf and design guidance by architect John Sanford.
