Country Club of Rochester

Set among mature hardwoods in Brighton and Pittsford, just east of downtown Rochester, the Country Club of Rochester (CCR) presents a walking-friendly, classical test on a compact property shaped by Buckland Creek. The club is private and member-owned, with an 18-hole course that currently plays as a par 70 of roughly 6,580–6,600 yards from the back tees. The routing blends gently rolling ground with a handful of creek crossings and greens that place a premium on precise approach play and deft recovery. Practice amenities include a driving range, chipping and putting areas, and three practice holes, and the golf program is supported by a seasoned professional staff and a full calendar of member events. Off the course, a year-round club life centers on the historic East Avenue campus, with dining, racquets, aquatics and family programming. Visitors today encounter a landscape that retains the character of Donald Ross’s work while reflecting later interventions—most notably three Robert Trent Jones holes from 1960 and a 2004 Gil Hanse restoration that re-established many original lines, hazards and playing widths.
