Mounds over buried rock
The 423-yard 5th from the Black tees runs straight with trees down its whole right side. The club's history says its fairway mounds are believed to have been built to bury rock dug out during Ross's construction. A long bunker on the left sits about 270 to 290 yards from the tee. Closer in, a bunker in the middle of the fairway lies about 55 yards short of the green and a long one runs down the right edge. The green is ringed by four bunkers: one across the back, one on the right and two on the left.
