Ross's sharp turn into the hollow

One of the holes Ross built in 1915 after Deal lost three holes to Hollywood. Woodland, played as a penalty area, runs the whole right side and the hole turns hard right at about 180 yards from the Blue tee. Two bunkers guard the inside of the turn at about 185 and 210 yards, so the club's own advice is a tee shot of about 200 yards rather than a driver over the corner. The second plays downhill to an oval green, longer than it is wide, set in a mown bowl with no bunker beside it; its several levels do the defending.
