Deal Golf & Country Club

Deal Golf & Country Club is a private, member-owned club on about 130 acres in Deal, a borough on the northern Jersey Shore a short distance inland from the Atlantic. Its clubhouse was built with the club in 1898, is the oldest in continuous use in New Jersey, was renovated in 2009 and gained an outdoor patio in 2022. The grounds also hold paddle tennis courts and a halfway house where the 3rd, 4th, 9th and 10th holes meet. The par-71 course measures 6,365 yards from the Blue tees and asks for placement more than length: the club describes tight fairways, hazards along half of the tee shots, penal bunkering and heavily contoured greens that shed missed approaches into short-grass runoffs. Woods line much of the course, ponds and a stream come into play on the 5th, 15th and 17th, and the round ends on a downhill par 3 alongside the clubhouse. Practice facilities include a range rebuilt in spring 2025 with 18 hitting bays and TrackMan, a 4,500-square-foot island putting green next to the 1st tee, and two short-game areas, one by the halfway house and one by the clubhouse, built to copy the course's runoffs. Deal regularly hosts state and USGA events, most recently the 2022 New Jersey Four-Ball, the 2023 New Jersey Mid-Amateur and 2025 U.S. Senior Open final qualifying.
