Deal Golf & Country Club

Set a few blocks inland from the Atlantic, Deal Golf & Country Club occupies roughly 130 acres in the borough of Deal on New Jersey’s northern Shore. The club is private and member-owned. Today’s course plays to a par of 71 with multiple tee sets; Deal emphasizes accuracy over brute length, with hazards in play on roughly half the tee shots and greens that fall away into short-grass runoffs. Practice facilities include a driving range (expanded and rebuilt with additional hitting bays and TrackMan in 2025), an island-style putting green by the first tee, and two short-game areas—one near the halfway house and another adjacent to the clubhouse—both built to mirror the contours and firmness of the course’s putting surfaces. The club regularly hosts regional competitions and qualifiers; recent years included the NJSGA Mid-Amateur (2023), NJSGA Four-Ball (2022) and USGA Senior Open Final Qualifying (2025). Visitors encounter a compact routing bisected by local roads and streams, a notable par-3 home hole in view of the historic clubhouse, and a set of highly contoured putting surfaces that govern strategy more than raw yardage.
