Edgewood Country Club
Edgewood Country Club lies in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, in Churchill, on the club’s 167-acre site first developed for golf in the early 1920s. Today it functions as a full-service private club with a clubhouse (including the members-only Donald Ross Grille), pool, three Har-Tru tennis courts, and three heated paddle courts, with membership categories ranging from full golf to social. The golf experience centers on an 18-hole, tree-lined course without water hazards, routed across rolling ground that yields frequent sidehill stances, uphill approaches, and a premium on precise placement into small, contoured greens. Practice facilities include an extensive driving range and short-game areas used for individual and group instruction. From the back tees the course reaches roughly 6,500 yards; while not long on the card, elevation change and firm, quick putting surfaces preserve its challenge. The club regularly hosts Western Pennsylvania Golf Association competitions and USGA qualifying, reflecting conditioning standards and logistical capacity typical of long-established metropolitan private clubs. Visitors encounter a compact property where most holes lie in close proximity to the clubhouse, with the par-5 eighth providing the signature vista back up to the terrace and the famously exacting false-fronted finishing green rising to the 18th.
