Evanston Golf Club

Evanston Golf Club is a private club at 4401 Dempster Street in Skokie, on Chicago's North Shore, with an 18-hole Donald Ross course on about 150 acres. The Tudor-style clubhouse, designed by Walter W. Ahlschlager and completed in 1918, was remodelled in 2007, and the club also has a pool complex and a West Campus with six paddle courts. Golf facilities include a full driving range, a short-game area, two putting greens, a sand practice area, a golf shop, bag storage and a caddie program. The course reopened in 2025 after a year-long closure for a restoration by Tyler J. Rae, who used GPS scans of the greens to bring back Ross's green shapes and hole locations, rebuilt the bunkers, re-grassed the course and installed new irrigation. From the ONE tees it measures 6,857 yards to a par of 70, 35 on each nine, with four par 3s and two par 5s. The land is close to flat. The round opens with par 4s of 444, 453 and 456 yards and closes with a 223-yard par 3 and a 494-yard par 4 whose approach crosses two ponds in front of the green. The club hosted the 1926 Chicago Open and the 1962 U.S. Senior Amateur, and it has held 14 Chicago District Golf Association championships since 1959 and the Western Golf Association's 2018 Western Junior.
