Evanston Golf Club
Evanston Golf Club is a private, member-owned club in Skokie, Illinois, on Chicago’s North Shore, built across roughly 150 acres. Today the course plays to a par 70 at 6,793 yards from the back tees, with additional tees for a wide range of abilities. Practice is a point of emphasis: the club maintains a full driving range, two dedicated putting areas, a short-game complex, and a sand practice area, alongside a staffed golf shop, bag storage, and caddie program. The broader campus includes racquets and swimming, anchored by a historic clubhouse that has been modernized while retaining its period character. On the ground, golfers encounter a parkland layout defined by firm, fast greens and a strategic bunker scheme that asks players to choose lines carefully; the overall feel is classic Chicago Ross, with long, exacting two-shotters early and a particularly engaging run of holes on the south side of the property. The course has hosted significant competitions—including the 1926 Chicago Open and the 1962 U.S. Senior Amateur—and remains an active tournament venue within the Chicago District. Membership is private, with prospective members directed to engage the club directly.
