Flourtown Country Club

Set in Springfield Township’s Flourtown neighborhood (northwest of Philadelphia), Flourtown Country Club is a township-owned, 9-hole course with a member program open to residents and non-residents. The routing plays twice for 18, at a posted par of 70 and approximately 5,768 yards from the longest tees. Daily operations center on a compact practice setup (a ~150-yard warm-up range/net and a dedicated putting green), bent-grass greens and fairways, and straightforward, walkable corridors. The clubhouse complex doubles as a busy events venue with year-round programming and an adjacent municipal pool; in peak season the course is open from 7 a.m. to sundown, weather permitting. Golf access is primarily via membership (no initiation or food minimums), with limited resident play permitted by township policy. On the ground, golfers encounter a mid-century parkland presentation—modest elevation change, narrow-to-medium width, and greens whose defense is more about placement and angles than dramatic contour—reflecting the course’s post-war redesign lineage rather than early 1910s ornamentation. While the property’s golf DNA traces to the original Sunnybrook Golf Club, the holes in play today are the product of later redesign and contraction of the site, so the experience is best understood as a compact community course with historical roots rather than an intact, early-period Ross time capsule.
