Forsyth Country Club - Course #1

Forsyth Country Club sits on 172 acres along Country Club Road in central Winston-Salem, a private club whose golf operations center on an 18-hole course attributed to Donald Ross’s expansion of an earlier A.W. Tillinghast nine. Today the course plays to a par 71, with the back tees stretching to roughly 6,784 yards; greens are Champion ultradwarf bermudagrass following a 2018 conversion and associated bunker reconstruction. The club maintains a traditional country-club campus—historic clubhouse with recent dining renovations, a fitness/wellness facility, racquets, pool, junior programming, and full-service golf instruction—while the golf side presents a walkable but topographically active parkland test. Visitors encounter several distinct settings: a valley par-3 on the front, a pond-framed short-iron on the back, and a sequence of long par-4s that ask for placement off the tee to open approach angles. Practice accommodations include range and putting facilities, complemented by on-course “caddie notes” that emphasize preferred lines and recovery options at each hole. Membership is private and family-oriented; tournament play at the club includes county championships and, in 2025, the NC Open.
