New Smyrna Golf Club

New Smyrna Golf Club is the City of New Smyrna Beach’s 18-hole municipal course at 1000 Wayne Avenue, a few miles inland from the Atlantic. It is a public facility with a full practice ground—driving range, putting and chipping greens, and a practice bunker—supported by a stocked golf shop and a simple clubhouse. The course plays to par 72 and approximately 6,543 yards from the back tees, with five sets of markers that compress the yardage to under 4,800 yards for forward players. Greens were resurfaced with Platinum Paspalum in 2016, and daily conditioning centers on firm, fast putting surfaces suited to Florida’s coastal climate. The routing threads through a low-lying property of ponds, canals and modest ridges, so wind direction and ground moisture influence shots more than elevation. As a municipal Ross, New Smyrna has a notably walkable footprint and compact green-to-tee connections. The current back nine (10–18) and several early holes on the front (1–3, 9) present the clearest look at the course’s historic character, with small targets, fall-offs and straightforward fairway lines that place most of the tactical emphasis on approach play. Tee sheets are open to the public year-round, and the course routinely hosts junior and professional-mini-tour events alongside local outings.
