Newton Commonwealth Golf Course

Set on the rolling hills of Newton’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood, Newton Commonwealth Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal layout that lets players experience classic Donald Ross architecture minutes from downtown Boston. The par-70 track stretches 5,354 yards from the back tees, demanding accuracy rather than brute length with narrow, tree-lined corridors, strategic bunkering, and small, quick greens that reward precise approach shots. Elevation changes create a handful of dramatic uphill and downhill holes, while water comes into play on four holes to keep shot selection interesting. Managed by Sterling Golf, the facility welcomes the public seven days a week and supports all skill levels with multiple tee sets, PGA-certified instruction, junior and women’s programs, and well-organized leagues. A fully stocked pro shop, practice putting green, electric carts, and rental clubs cover on-course needs, and the renovated clubhouse adds a casual grill room, outdoor patio, and event space for outings or private functions. Online tee times are available up to seven days in advance.
