Oakland Hills Country Club - North

Oakland Hills Country Club’s North Course occupies the rolling ground north of Maple Road in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, across from the historic clubhouse site and the South Course. It is a private, member club with two championship-scale eighteens; the North functions today as a par-70 course playing roughly 6,900 yards from the back tees, and it frequently shares stroke-play duties when the club hosts USGA championships. The North’s present character reflects a late-1960s redesign that multiplied and repositioned bunkers and altered routing relationships; later renovation refined that template for modern play and championship administration. For visitors and competitors, the North offers a parkland walk with numerous fairway and approach bunkers, a handful of water-affected shots (notably on the back nine), and greens that reward precise placement rather than brute length. Championship weeks typically stage match play on the South, with the North absorbing half the stroke-play field and related logistics. The campus itself is in the midst of a significant clubhouse rebuild following the 2022 fire; the reconstruction is slated to open in 2026, while the two courses and practice grounds remain active and in regular use.
