Pine Needles Golf Club
Pine Needles Golf Club sits on the Sandhills ridge of Southern Pines, NC, where sandy, fast-draining soils and subtle elevation changes produce firm conditions and pronounced ground contours. The resort is anchored by the lodge and cottages, a full-service practice range, short-game facilities, and a complimentary four-hole short course (“The Loop”) adjacent to the historic range. Pine Needles is open to resort guests and limited outside play, with a strong instruction culture rooted in the legacy of Peggy Kirk Bell. Today the course plays as an exacting, walkable par 71 that stretches to just over 7,000 yards from the back tees for resort play, while USGA championship setups have used yardages around 6,600+ for the U.S. Women’s Open. The day-to-day character is defined by sand-capped fairways framed by restored native sandscapes, bold but readable green contours, and frequent false fronts that demand precise trajectory and ample spin control. Several vantage points—particularly from the 10th tee—offer sweeping views across the interior ridge, and the routing returns naturally to the clubhouse after each nine.
