Ponkapoag Golf Club #2

Ponkapoag Golf Club Course #2 occupies the same glacially formed, gently rolling ground of the Blue Hills Reservation in Canton, Massachusetts as its sibling Course #1, but it plays a touch shorter and tighter. It is a public, state-ownedlayout operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR). The current card lists par 71 at 6,195 yards from the Blue tees (White 5,712; Red 5,028), with USGA ratings/slopes of 69.7/122 (Blue) and 68.0/117 (White); the official DCR scorecard provides hole-by-hole yardages and the routing map. Facilities for the 36-hole complex include a driving range, practice green, pro shop, snack bar, carts, and lessons, reinforcing its role as a regional public hub rather than a private club. The #2 routing threads through sandy soils and corridors framed by second-growth woodland and wetland edges associated with Ponkapoag Brook; the playing experience hinges more on angles into modest green sites and a steady breeze than on elevation change. Compared with Course #1, which underwent a 2014–15 restoration, Course #2 presents as a historical composite—an 18 formed from earlier and later pieces of the state’s build-out—with no recent, architect-led restoration documented in public sources.
