Portland Country Club

Set on Falmouth Foreside just north of Portland, Portland Country Club occupies bluff-top ground with long looks to Casco Bay on the outward nine and more timbered corridors on the inward side. It is a private club with an 18-holecourse, practice range and putting green, a year-round clubhouse, and racquets and pool facilities on site. The current card lists par 70 at 6,466 yards from the back (Green) tees, with alternate Black, White, and Gold sets; ratings/slopes range from 71.5/134 (Green) to 68.3/129 (White), and the hole-by-hole yardages are available on the club’s public scorecard page. The front nine is the more open, with ocean views punctuating holes like the one-shot 7th, while the back nine tightens through trees before returning toward the bay at 17 and 18. The club identifies as a Certified Audubon Sanctuary, and course presentation emphasizes firm, running surfaces and short-grass surrounds rather than raw length. Access is via member play and member-hosted events; the course regularly appears in state rankings and has hosted Maine Golf championships, including the centennial Maine Amateur in 2019.
