Ridgefields Golf & Athletic Club
Ridgefields Golf & Athletic Club occupies a sweeping bend of the North Fork Holston River on the west side of Kingsport, with the Bays Mountain escarpment rising abruptly behind the property. The club remains private. Members today find an 18-hole layout presented as par 72 and measuring roughly 6,800 yards from the longest tees. The clubhouse complex sits within the former C. P. Edwards, Jr. estate—an area developed after World War II as the Ridgefields subdivision—and the course occupies gently rolling bottomland close to the river’s meanders, a setting documented by the Kingsport Public Library & Archives. Practice facilities include a putting green and short-game areas typical of private clubs in the region; the club’s public-facing site does not enumerate specifications. The corridor widths and playing character reflect decades of incremental renovation and regrassing (notably a full greens replacement in 2002), while competitive play centers on the club’s longstanding Ridgefields Invitational and periodic hosting of Tennessee Golf Association championships, including the State Amateur in 1979, 1985, and 1991.
