Sewells Point Golf Club

Set on the grounds of Naval Station Norfolk at the tip of Sewell’s Point, Sewells Point Golf Course is a publicly accessible (base-operated) 18-hole layout in the city of Norfolk, Virginia. The course plays as a par-71 in the 6,200-yard range from the back markers and presents a tree-lined, generally level coastal setting with wind off Hampton Roads often in play. Facilities today include a pro shop, instruction and fittings, and recently converted Champion hybrid bermudagrass putting surfaces; tees and fairways are also bermudagrass. The Navy’s program pages describe an 18-hole “championship” track with “well-bunkered undulating greens,” language echoed in regional golf-association listings. Access is managed by Navy MWR; civilian play is permitted subject to base procedures. For visitors, the experience is that of a compact, straightforward military course whose conditioning and features reflect late-20th-century renovation work layered over an early-20th-century origin.
