Stockbridge Golf Club
Stockbridge Golf Club occupies low ground along the Housatonic River in the center of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, within walking distance of Main Street and the Norman Rockwell Museum precinct. The private, member-owned club operates an 18-hole course that today stretches to roughly 6,650 yards at par 71 from the back tees, with multiple blended sets down to a forward option near 4,571 yards; the club publishes a hole-by-hole “Course Tour” with tee-by-tee yardages and current ratings/slope. The walk is mostly level, with play frequently crossing or skirting the river and its tributaries. Beyond golf, members use five racquet courts (three Har-Tru, two synthetic grass) and new pickleball courts opened in 2024; the clubhouse supports a summer social calendar typical of a Berkshires field club. In competitive terms, Stockbridge hosted the Massachusetts Open in 2008 and served as a U.S. Open local qualifying site in 2018, so setups can tighten and speeds firm when required. For visitors invited by members, the dominant impressions today are the intimacy of the river corridor, the frequency with which water shapes angles, and an old-club cadence that still organizes the season around longstanding invitationals.
