Wannamoisett Country Club

Tucked into a residential grid in Rumford on roughly 100 acres, Wannamoisett is a private, caddie-forward club whose golf course is the center of activity. Members today find a walkable par-69 Ross layout with a single par-5 (the 17th) and an exacting mix of mid- and long par-4s that play across shallow gullies and over ridges. The club highlights its caddie program and positions the course as “impeccably conditioned,” with 18 subtly contoured greens and tightly placed bunkers; the property also supports seasonal swimming and tennis alongside the golf operation. Practice space is constrained by the compact site, but the club maintains short-game areas and putting greens and stages a full calendar of member tournaments. Every June the course hosts the Northeast Amateur Invitational, which brings elite collegiate and mid-am players to Rumford for 72 holes. Visitors’ first impressions tend to be scale and speed: corridors are intimate, greens are small and pitched, and even modest yardages feel longer when the surfaces are firm and hole locations ride the internal contours.
