Bedford Springs Hotel Golf Club

Set in a narrow valley just south of the borough, Bedford Springs’ Old Course threads back and forth across Shober’s Run, the cold, spring-fed creek that defines both the resort and the golf. Today the course operates as the resort’s public-access 18, with a full-service pro shop beside the historic hotel, practice greens and short-game areas, and limited warm-up space that reflects the tight floodplain site. The round opens near the hotel terrace and alternates between creekside meadows and slightly higher benches where fairways are pinched by native rough and restored stream margins. At 6,785 yards (par 72) from the back tees, the card reads modest by modern standards, but small, tiered greens and frequent cross-hazards lean on accuracy, especially on the two-shotters that play over Shober’s Run or into perched targets. The resort welcomes non-guests as well as hotel players, and publishes seasonal daily-fee schedules; groups often build play around the hotel’s spa and historic pools. The course’s contemporary presentation reflects a 2007 restoration that re-established a 1920s Ross routing while intentionally conserving earlier features by Spencer Oldham and A. W. Tillinghast. The result is a coherent resort course with visible layers of work from three architects, assembled along a trout stream that influences strategy on most holes.
