Elkview Country Club

Elkview Country Club lies between Crystal Lake and Newton Lake in Greenfield Township, just north of Carbondale. It is a private club: the course is for members and their guests, tee times are required every day, and walk-on play is not taken. Membership runs from full senior to junior and social categories, and social members use the bar, restaurant and the club's beach on Crystal Lake. The clubhouse has a bar, grill room, main dining room and outdoor patios, and hosts weddings and private events. Three golf professionals run the golf shop, club fitting and lessons, and the season is built around member leagues and the Memorial Tournament each July. The course is par 72 and 6,654 yards from the Blue tees, with five sets of tees down to 4,027 yards. It plays across sloping ground, and the club's own hole notes come back again and again to sidehill lies with the ball above the feet and to greens that tilt in different directions rather than simply back to front. Three of the four par 3s are more than 200 yards from the Blue tees, the 4th is the one tee shot over water, and the lakes are in view from much of the property. The greens are annual bluegrass and the fairways a mix of bentgrass and poa. The Golf Association of Philadelphia brought qualifying for its Open Championship (the GAP Open) here in 2022 and 2024, and the club hosted and won the 2026 Senior Coal Scuttle.
