Asheville Municipal Golf Course

Asheville Municipal Golf Course, known locally as the Muni, is a public course owned by the City of Asheville on the east side of town, between Swannanoa River Road and the Beverly Hills neighbourhood. Donald Ross laid it out on two very different pieces of ground: a flat, open front nine on the Swannanoa River floodplain and a hilly, wooded back nine whose fairways run between the neighbourhood's streets and houses, with views east to the Swannanoa Mountains. Before Hurricane Helene the full 18 played to par 72 and 6,420 yards from the Championship tees. Helene's floodwaters submerged the front nine in September 2024 and washed out most of its greens, tees and bunkers. The back nine reopened on October 28, 2024 and is the golf course for now: the card plays it twice for 18 holes, 3,147 yards a loop from the Blue tees at par 36. It is the tighter half, with narrow tree-lined fairways, several doglegs and few bunkers, and it finishes on a long par 3 in front of the clubhouse. Since August 2025 the front-nine ground has been an 18-hole disc golf course, and the city expects to rebuild the golf holes, with construction planned for 2027 and the front nine reopening in 2028. The pro shop handles tee times, cart rental and disc golf check-in. Practice facilities are chipping and putting areas and a hitting net, and PGA professional Patrick Warren gives lessons.
