Black Mountain Golf Course
Nestled at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains just 17 miles east of Asheville, Black Mountain Golf Course is a walk-friendly, town-owned layout that has welcomed players since 1929. The front nine features a Donald Ross design, while the back nine was added in 1962, creating today's 18-hole, par-71 track that stretches 6,215 yards from the back tees. Wide, forgiving fairways suit every skill level. The course's claim to fame is the 747-yard, par-6 17th—once the world's longest hole—providing a memorable challenge and conversation piece. Mountain panoramas frame nearly every shot, yet the routing remains relatively flat, making it enjoyable on foot or cart. On-site amenities include practice greens, a fully stocked pro shop, PGA instruction, club rentals, and the Green Tee Grille with deck seating overlooking the finishing hole. Affordable daily-fee rates, seasonal passes, leagues, and frequent community tournaments round out a welcoming, no-pretension golf experience for locals and visitors alike.
