Short-two-shotters are a Grove Park signature. The sixth and fifteenth are instructive contrasts. This place has incredible historic charm, fantastic places to eat, and the staff is wonderful. The views are amazing. We absolutely loved it here. The rooms are big but pretty standard. The resort itself is what makes your stay special.

We stayed there during their gingerbread competition they host annually. We had an amazing time and the staff were absolutely incredible. Jarvis which assisted my family during our stay was 5 stars alone! Thank you and my boys will not forget their experiences. This might be a new tradition.

We spent over 2.2 k per night to stay in the E. W. Grove penthouse suite. We expected a luxury experience and got quite the opposite. 1. The suite- I would not consider it a penthouse suite. It is on the top floor, but there are lots of other rooms and the club on this level. The suite itself was awful. Most of it is outdated(possibly from the ‘70’s) and DIRTY! The carpet in the bedroom and bathroom (!) is filthy and stained. Wallpaper filthy, cracked tile floor, burnt out light bulbs. The floor in front of the couch was sticky. The bedding is old and musty. I woke up with a headache after the first night. Luckily we had blankets in the car and we slept on the couch after that. There is also lots of noise. I heard people talking around the bedroom area and there was an awful random noise in the living room area (it sounded like chairs being drug across a wood floor). This noise went on morning, noon, and night. I have a feeling we were directly over the restaurant. 2. The Spa- We had spa passes that came with the room. My husband wanted to book a massage for the next day and was told they were completely booked. He had to wait in line at 8 am to see if they had any appointments available. I would think with the amount of money we paid, we should have been given some kind of preferential treatment. The spa itself is overrated and way too crowded. We opted not to even use our passes because of the crowds. It was difficult to even walk around. 3. Dining- We ate at the Blue Ridge for dinner. Again, I thought we would get a nice table because of where we were staying, but no. We were jammed in the overcrowded back room, at a tiny table. The waiter ignored us for twenty minutes until finally taking our drink order. I will say the food was excellent though. Additionally, we were supposed to get free breakfast in the mornings. We tried to get one breakfast and they charged us. We had to get the charge reversed. 4. Shopping experience- Every single thing there is double or triple the normal price. On a side note, I was appalled to hear the cashier at the Christmas store talking to an older woman and telling her that children are animals! 5. Overall treatment- I have spent a lot less and gotten better treatment elsewhere. Upon our departure, the floor concierge saw us with our suitcases and immediately asked what room we were in and then quickly left. He didn’t even bother to ask how our stay was or offer to call a bellhop. Also, the main area was always crowded. We were unable to sit by one of the fireplaces at all during our stay. There were people even saving seats. The only person who even tried to make us feel welcomed was the woman at the front desk. She was kind and funny and the only asset to this hotel.
